NUT | LAC

since 2021

The NUT | LAC series develops its intensity from a radical limitation of material. Very slowly flowing streams of sound are broken up by slowly changing, drilling pulses. The incessant interruption in turn creates the impression of tipping back into a flow.
A continuous drone sooner or later merges with its surroundings, continuous beats lead to social synchronisation.
The pulses and pauses in NUT | LAC throw our perception back onto ourselves and bind the underlying drones to the here and now. At the same time, they unsettle our sense of time: the formation of centres of gravity, accelerations and decelerations, shifts and expansions all happen in the material, but also in our minds.
One associative layer is that of the jamming or alarm signal. It is no coincidence that alarm signals in times of disaster are siren- or pulse-like: constancy allows for acclimatisation.
NUT | LAC unfolds between rigidity and movement, action and interruption, insistence and refusal, disintegration and dissociation, paradox and impossibility — alarm, attack, trip, celebration.
